Who doesn’t want nice and toned legs? PUT YOUR AND DOWN!

Toned legs don’t just happen over night. You have to put a little bit of work in but thankfully finding exercises that target your legs that you can do at home is pretty easy.

Exercises for Toned Thighs

Below are the exercises that will help you get toned legs. They are exercises that require minimal equipment and will cause minimal pain if you happen to have any joint pain.

Toned legs take work so it’s important to remember that you have to push yourself through the bit of pain (burning) you’ll feel especially if you’ve never done any of these exercises in the past.

Dumbbell Squats

This is different than a regular bodyweight squat or a barbell squat. Yes, those exercises are still great for your legs and can get them just as toned, but dumbbell squats require your body to do more.

Using free weights, like dumbbells, require you to have much more control over what you’re doing.

Dumbbell squats will cause your legs to do more work by making you balance yourself better. If you lack balance, you could easily fall over. When you have a strong base, you are going to have better balance.

Since a squat focuses primarily on your hamstrings and quads, you will be forced to strengthen these areas. Strengthening these areas will lead to more toned thighs and hamstrings.

Lateral Lunge

The lateral lunge will focus on a different area of your thighs. Most other exercises will only get the front part of your thighs. Lateral lunges will focus more on the outside of your thighs.

Creating more strength in all areas of your leg is a key for your future stability. You will be at less risk for a leg injury, especially around your knee.

Lateral lunges will cause you to have more toned thighs, but it will also make your knees more stable. You don’t have to be an active athlete to get a serious knee injury, they can happen at almost any time when you are being active, so it’s important that you do what you can to help prevent future disaster.

Single Leg Romanian Deadlifts

Working one leg at a time can really increase your strength at a rapid pace.

Deadlifts themselves are great for increasing strength all through the back side of your body. Single leg deadlifts force your thighs to come into the equation.

You need all the muscles in your leg to maintain balance and force yourself to come back to your starting position.

The more weight you use to work your legs, the leaner they will look.

Hip Thrusts

Hip thrusts will not only tone your legs, but this exercise can help you achieve an amazing butt.

You need all the muscles from your knees to your hips to fully execute this exercise. When done properly, you should feel the burn almost immediately. If you don’t feel the burn at all, then you are doing something wrong.

While you squeeze your glutes, you are also engaging your quads because of the lifting motion you will be doing with your hips. Any time you can engage your quads during an exercise, you are working on toning that area of your legs.

Wall Sits

Wall sits are always a fun exercise. They are simple to execute, but they require a lot of leg work to keep your body situated in a fixed position. If you lack any strength in your legs, you will not be able to hold your body in the exercise for very long.

As time progresses, you will be able to last longer, because your legs are getting stronger and stronger.

You will feel most of the burn in your thighs when you’re doing this exercise. This is what you want. Your quads will stay flexed throughout this exercise and may have to work overtime to hold your body in position.

Jump Squats

This is an exercise that combines fitness with muscle growth. You’ll be burning in your legs and your lungs.

You are doing squats with the added benefits of jumping straight up in the air. You are exerting much more energy and forcing your muscles to do a lot more work.

Jump squats may be one of the best exercises you can do if you are looking get toned legs in a hurry. The amount of energy you need and force required to push your body off the ground from a squat position is tremendous.

Better Legs for Your Future

There are other exercises that can give you toned legs. The ones listed above are ones that we believe will help you achieve toned thighs and hamstrings quickly.

The best part about these exercises, with the exception of jump squats, they are relatively easy on your joints so you don’t have to worry about much knee or ankle pain while doing them.
